Growing out your hair may seem pretty simple, just wait a couple of
months and you’ll see hair growth is what most people are telling you. Well,
that’s not always the case for everyone because there are methods to grow your
hair faster naturally.
We really like taking things step by step when it comes to natural hair
growth because it will actually take time to see results. Here are 27 tips we
wish, we would have known before testing all sorts of products.
Table of Contents
1. Collagen Peptides
Collagen Peptides is a pill that worked really well
for me, A doctor who specializes in women and anti-aging recommended us to try
collagen peptides. I’ve been taking this every morning for several years now.
The first noticeable things you see are improvement in hair, skin, and nails. It’s supposed to help to connect the tissue. Clearly there are lots of brands on the market but the one that we recommend is the Great Lakes Gelatin, Collagen Hydrolysate you can check it out here. What we like the most is to mix it with coffee, so it doesn’t really have a smell or taste.
2. Biotin
Biotin can increase hair growth very fast especially if your hair always grows super slow. It will speed up the process but generally speaking, it will take a few months to see a noticeable difference.
Biotin will also increase your nails to grow faster, however, it will not necessarily make your hair thicker or stronger. Most people we’ve spoken to just told us that their hair and nails started to grow faster but the quality of their hair stayed the same. We know this is all different for every person but from what we get is that Biotin only makes your hair grow faster.
3. Use Heat Protecting
Heat protecting your hair is very important for hair
growth. If you are blow-drying your hair every single day, it will eventually
dry out and slow down your hair growth. Heat protectants are specially made to
keep your hair safe from the heat and give it a great shine after.
The heat protector that we like the most is from the
brand HIS Professional. It really helped our hair stay healthier and prevented
it from drying out. You can literally use this heat protector for all hair
types and once you start using this, your hair could possibly grow way faster
than you actually expected. If you’re interested in the one that we use, check it out here.
4. Avoid Shampooing As Much As Possible
Avoid shampooing your hair because by using too much
of it, it can wash out the natural oils you are building up.
Each hair follicles is anchored in a pore of the skin. The root of your hair is inside that follicle and that contains natural oils. So if you wash your hair every day, you’re are washing out the natural layer of protection. Washing your hair 1 to 2 times a week is okay but don’t do it too often.
In the beginning, your hair will get really greasy and oily but once you start doing this for a couple of weeks, you’ll notice a huge difference. Your hair won’t get greasy after one or two days anymore and you can go a whole week without washing your hair while still looking fresh.
5. Use Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is for some people the key element to keeping their hair healthy and with the healthy hair, you’ll see that your hair grows faster naturally. So using coconut oil can really benefit your hair especially if your hair is damaged or very dry.
We use coconut oil once or twice a month but it really depends on your hair type. Coconut oil is great for moisturizing your hair and giving it a great shine. It’s really a product that’s good for almost everyone. If you’re interested in, how to use coconut oil for your hair, check it out here.
6. Use Deep Conditioner
Deep conditioning your hair really can change it all. Your hair gets softer, shinier and is way easier to manage. You don’t need to do this every day or week, once a month is good enough for most people. However, remember that for most people it takes several weeks before seeing really good results.
This is the same for every tip we give, everything takes time so do not rush anything, take your time for every step you do to grow your hair naturally. The one that we like the most is the Hair Mask and Deep Conditioner By Arvazallia, it gave us a great soft and silky look after using it. If you’re interested in this product, check it out here.
7. Eat Healthily
Eating healthy has great benefits to your hair growth,
the richest source is your liver and the best way to adverse that is by eating
eggs and avocado. Those are pretty good sources as well.
Here are some good foods to improve hair growth like eggs, berries, spinach, fatty fish, sweet potatoes, avocados, nuts/seeds, sweet peppers, oysters, shrimp, soybean, and beans. Eating meat is also very important because it’s loaded with protein which overall helps hair growth.
8. Trim Your Split Ends
Trimming
your split ends helps your hair prevents your hair from getting more damaged.
If you go to the hair salon trim your ends frequently it will be more healthy. Some
people just leave their split ends like that and this can cause it to split/break
or thin out in the end.
We
know someone that didn’t get a hair cut of almost 3 years because she felt like
it was stuck at the length that she had. She decided to cut off a couple of
inches and it grew back to the length that she got and eventually it started to
grow further. So going to the hair salon frequently is something we really
recommend.
9. Avoid Heat Tools When Possible
Using heat tools on your hair can be really damaging, we’re mainly talking about the products like a blow-dryer or a flat iron. These products can do a significant amount of damage to your hair without even noticing it.
Most people only start noticing this when their hair starts to get thinner and thinner. So try to avoid heat tools as much as you can, only use it for special occasions like a wedding or party. Once you start doing this, you’ll definitely see lots of improvement to your hair.
10. Hair Supplements
Using hair supplements is something that we recommend to people when they are really desperate to grow their hair faster. Like we said before the first things you’ll see improve are your hair, skin, and nails. We’re talking about collagen Peptides or biotin. It can take up to several weeks before seeing results but for some people, it’s definitely worth a try.
However, remember that taking hair supplements must be
done with consent because taking too much of it can be really bad for your
health.
11. Massage Scalp Regularly
Massaging your scalp regularly can make a huge
difference in natural hair growth. It stimulates the hair follicles which
improve hair growth. Just by doing this every day for 10 to 15 minutes before
sleep is already huge.
There was a study done in
Japan about massaging the scalp every day. In total 9 participants joined the
study and received massages every day for 24 weeks straight. At the end of the
study, the massaged scalp had thicker hair and less density. This massage was
done by a machine but there are also lots of great electric scalp massagers in
the market. The one that we find the best is the LATME Electric Scalp Massager.

it out here.
12. Rogaine
Rogaine is mostly used by people, who start balding and want to grow their hair back again. It’s modestly effective and only about 1/3 of the people will see some hair growth. The others only see a little bit of this and it doesn’t necessarily stop the baldness itself, at most, it will just control it.
13. Exercise More
Exercising is one of the most important things to stay
healthy throughout your lifetime. A lot of people that don’t exercise will
often gain more weight and are less happy. Some things that we’ve noticed when
exercising is that it actually helps with people that are depressed or have
anxiety.
If you work out several hours a day, your mind will
focus on something else and this is really good. Other’s just exercise to relax
their mind from the stress they get at work. So if you exercise regularly, you’ll
be more healthy and this could potentially stimulate hair growth.
14. Brush Your Hair Gently
Brush your hair gently, brushing the scalp is important to loosen and get rid of the dead skin cells. Do not do it too harshly because it can damage your scalp and lead to irritation. It’s really good to do it before showering or washing your hair.
Try using a knobby hairbrush, this will keep the dandruff at bay and also prevents hair flakes. The one that we like the most is the Pure Wild Boar Bristle Hair Brush, it works surprisingly well with thick hair. The brush has a very premium feel to it and is made with high-quality products. If you are interested in this, check it out here. It could be somewhat on the more expensive side but keep in mind that a hairbrush like this will be used for several years.
15. Avoid Styling Your Hair In Hairstyles That Will Stress The Follicles
Avoid styling your hair in hairstyles like high ponytails, cornrows or tight braids. These hairstyles are often very tight on your hair follicles and will be bad for hair growth. If you are putting too much pressure on the hair follicles it could eventually lead to hair loss. So try to avoid these hairstyles as much as possible, if you really want to keep styling your hair like that, do it as moderately as possible.
16. Find Hair Products Appropriate For Your Hair Type
Find hair products that suit your hair type. Everyone has a different hair type, some have thick or thin hair and others long or short. Try out some different shampoos and conditioners, eventually, you’ll find the best hair products for your hair type.
There are a lot of different shampoos and conditioners on the market, so look carefully and if you really need advice, you could always go to a store and ask a specialist what’s the best for your hair type.
What we found really useful is watching YouTube videos
about the product or reading a ton of reviews on Amazon before actually making
the purchase. Once you found the best products for your hair type, start
applying them weekly and you’ll see improvement in your hair growth naturally.
17. Don’t Wash Your Hair With Hot Water
Washing your hair with hot water could potentially
damage it. Hot water dries out your hair even though that sounds weird, it
really does dry out your hair. Try to wash it less often or just use room temperature
water to wash your hair.
Something that we really like is just to use cold
water but it’s not for everyone because it’s very unpleasant. It will definitely
improve your hair and after doing it for a couple of weeks, you’ll get used to
it.
18. Apricot Oil
Apricot Oil is really good for your hair, it has a nice smell to it and it’s way lighter than camellia oil. From what we know is that it will prevent your hair from tangling and it’s not too heavy on the hair. Use it after washing your hair, add a little bit in between your hands and scrunch into the hair.
19. Sleep more
Personally speaking, we advise everyone to sleep at least 7 to 9 hours a day and go at a regular time to bed. That’s how it can help your pineal gland generate more hormones and melatonin which is a key for regulating hormone production.
Let’s say you only get around 6 hours of sleep every single day, the chances are higher that you’ll get more stressed, depressed and anxiety. Stress is in general very bad if you want to increase your hair growth naturally. So try to sleep more and have a regular sleep schedule even if you go out to party every weekend. Make sure to get back to your sleep schedule asap.
20. Fish Oil And Prenatal
Taking fish oil and prenatal has great benefits to boost your immune system. It can possibly make your hair much thicker, healthier and shinier than it used to be. However, it might take some time before seeing results. The one thing that taking people really like about taking fish oil is that it can prevent acne from getting worse, fewer muscle aches and improved memory.
Some people say it also improves your mood but it’s
not proven.
21. Use A Silk Or Satin Pillow Case
Using a silk or satin pillowcase could be actually good for hair growth. What you’ll notice at first are the sleep marks and you’ll be more hydrated in the mornings. This is great for natural hair growth and your skin!
If you are considering buying one of these buy, buy a pillowcase that’s not too expensive to try out first. We like the Bedsure Satin Pillowcase the most because it keeps our skin really moisturizing and our hair stayed perfectly as we wanted. You can check it out here on Amazon!
22. Don’t Brush Your Hair When It’s Wet
Brushing wet hair is really bad. Wet hair breaks very
easily and is really vulnerable. Try to wait a bit first to let your hair dry,
once it’s dry you can brush it. If you have really strong, thick and healthy
hair, I wouldn’t worry about it, but make sure to not do it too often because
it could really damage your hair badly.
Most people start to notice breakage if they start brushing their wet hair. Brush your hair gently and get a smoothing serum to make sure to do it safely. You obviously want your hair to grow more naturally.
23. Hair Masks
Hair Masks are great for natural hair growth because
it’s like a very good moisturizer. There are many hair masks online but you
could also make hair masks yourself.
Just use a bit of coconut oil, castor oil, and neem oil. Mix it together and massage it into the roots. Leave it in for around 30 minutes with a shower cap on top. Then take a warm towel and cover the shower cap at the top. Do this for around once or twice a week to see the best results. If you are too lazy for all this, just buy some hair masks from Amazon which is easier but more expensive.
24. Castor Oil
Castor oil works great for hair growth, lots of people use it on their eyebrows or for men, beards. It has worked really well and so far we’ve seen people really happy using the castor oil. There are no actual “studies” but for us, it has really improved hair growth significantly.
25. Air Dry Or Use A Diffuser
Using a diffuser or letting your hair air dry can really improve natural hair growth. We recommend this to people with curly hair because it works best for them.
With a diffuser, you could get some more frizz but from our experience, the frizz adds a little bit more volume to it, which is what we prefer. Air drying is also really good but most people don’t do this because it takes too time to let it fully dry. There are many benefits to air drying because you don’t actually use tools like a blow-dryer or flat iron. It also won’t cause damage like drying out or getting an irritated scalp.
26. Don’t dye it
Do not dye your hair if you want to grow it more
because dying your could potentially lead to drying out your hair. You don’t
want to dry out your hair because it will slow down the hair growth. Use some conditioner
or hair masks to keep your hair moisturized throughout the whole day.
If you really want to dye your hair, do it in a professional
hair salon because they know what they do. It may be more expensive but your scalp
will get less irritated and stay more healthy.
27. Talk To Your Hairdresser
Go to your hairdresser and ask them how to grow your hair faster. Most of them have a lot of experience and know what they are talking about. Follow their tips and do the research yourself before taking action. By doing the research yourself you actually know what they mean and how to do it.
We advise you to talk to multiple hairdressers to ask questions, ask how they grew their hair out if they have long hair. How did they maintain it and what products they use. Those are some really good questions to ask your hairdresser and if you really don’t know what to do after reading this article and talking to your hairdresser. Go to a hair specialist and ask him to help you out.
Conclusion
Now that you know all the 27 tips, it’s time to
actually start taking action by testing out what works the best for you. There
might be some tips that don’t suit your hair type which is completely normal
but we know that there are definitely some tips that can really help you
improve natural hair growth.
