Why You Need A Good Hair Dryer For Dread Locks

When blow-drying dreadlocks, you want the best possible hairdryer, I know that some of the general ones don’t have enough power or will overheat. Those things can really damage the hair, and you want to avoid that at all costs.

Another thing to keep in mind is that a diffuser is great for blow-drying dreadlocks, so take that into consideration when buying a good blowdryer.

Back in the days, when I was looking for a good blowdryer, there weren’t many brands out there that actually worked well. These days more and more products are out there, so there’s more choice for you to choose from.

1. NITION Negative Ions Ceramic Hair Dryer

Overview

Pricing: $$
Watt: 1875
Speed Settings: 2
Heat Settings: 3
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The hairdryer from NITION is one of the best for dreadlocks because, with the diffuser, it makes blowdrying incredibly easy. It has multiple heat and speed settings while also having a cool shot. What I like about this is that it’s very lightweight and compact.

You can take with while traveling or just use it at home. The design is very sleek and clean while also doing the job. I have used this for about 5 months now, and it has never been this easy.

Blow drying your hair can often be a hassle and take a long time, I had this when I was still in college. It took me at least 15 to 30 minutes before drying my hair.

So, when I started looking for a good hairdryer, this one was recommended to me by my hairstylist. I still use it to this day and have no regrets buying it.

If you haven’t tried this one yet, I highly recommend it. It’s definitely worth giving it a try, and you won’t regret buying it.

2. Light Weight Salon Hair Blow Dryer

Overview

Pricing: $$
Watt: 2000
Speed Settings: 2
Heat Settings: 3
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This lightweight blow dryer is great for getting your hair dry really fast, while also keeping it healthy. It comes with multiple attachments that are very handy when you need them. What I like about this dryer is that it’s very powerful and lightweight.

It’s not too heavy when holding it in hand and it’s perfect for styling the hair. What I noticed when trying out this dryer is that it works very well for people with long dreadlocks.

One of my friends uses this hairdryer, and she loves it. It’s very popular in our community, and everyone with dreadlocks uses this hairdryer.

It’s very affordable for everyone, and the diffuser is very high quality. Most diffusers that I’ve used in the past were pretty bad quality, that’s not the case with this one.

3. 1875W Professional Salon Hair Dryer

Overview

Pricing: $$
Watt: 1875
Speed Settings: 2
Heat Settings: 3
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This hair dryer from Conair is one of the more popular ones, it has been highly praised by the dreadlock community. I tried this one myself a couple of weeks ago, and it works great. What I like about this dryer is that it looks very premium and dries your hair very fast.

I know that a lot of professional hairstylists use this dryer. The only downside of this dryer is that it might be a bit loud, but if you don’t really mind using a loud dryer, this is perfect for you.

It’s also a bit on the smaller side, but when you look at the power, there’s no difference between a big and a small one. It gets the job done and works great for thick hair.

One thing that I wish they had done is to blowdry a little hotter, this would make the experience even better, but you can’t get everything. After all, this is a great blowdryer, and it’s definitely worth giving it a try.

4. Conair 1875 Watt Full Size Pro Hair Dryer

Overview

Pricing: $
Watt: 1875
Speed Settings: 2
Heat Settings: 3
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This hair dryer from Conair is technically the same as above but a full size, it’s bigger and stronger but has the same power. The only reason why I’ve added this into the list is that this one works very well with dreadlocks.

I used this about 2 years ago, and it’s a great budget hairdryer, my dreadlocks were dry after only 5 to 10minutes of blow-drying. That’s really fast if you compare it to some other brands out there.

What I really like about this dryer is the design, it’s very modern and clean. This has been one of my favorite dryers for a long time, I stopped using this because there are some better ones out there.

However, if you’re looking for a budget dryer that works great for dreadlocks, this is the one you should go for. If you haven’t tried this one yet, I highly recommend you test this since it has delivered great results for me.

5. Xpoliman Professional Salon Hair Dryer

Overview

Pricing: $$
Watt: 2000
Speed Settings: 2

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This hair dryer from Xpoliman is a great hairdryer for dreadlocks if you want a silent once. The noise reduction is very good on this dryer, and it works for all hair types. What I like about this dryer is that it’s very powerful while also giving your hair some shine.

I have been testing this dryer for about 3 weeks now, and it has been great. There weren’t any bad things about this dryer, so if you’re looking for one that is silent and powerful, this is the one you should go for.

The only downside is that it can be a bit heavy when holding it in hand, you’ll probably get used it after some time. After all, this is a great choice for blow-drying dreadlocks.

Another plus is that it doesn’t overheat after using it for a very long time. I have noticed that some dryers overheat very quickly after using it for longer than 10 minutes.

6. Jinri Professional Hair Dryer

Overview

Pricing: $$
Watt: 1875
Speed Settings: 2
Heat Settings: 3
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This hair dryer from Jinri is extremely popular in Asia, and almost everyone has heard about this brand. You might be thinking what does this have to do with dreadlocks. Well, this hairdryer is one of the best travel dryers for blowdrying dreadlocks.

It’s very powerful, and it doesn’t damage the hair at all when using this, my dreadlocks were dry in less than 10 minutes with this dryer. That’s very fast when you compare some of the other brands that I’ve used in the past.

The design of this is also very clean, and you can share this one with everyone in your family. Normally what I do when using this is to let my hair air dry first for about 5 minutes and then blowdry with this one for 5 minutes.

This is the fastest way for me to dry my dreadlocks, that’s what I always do with all of these hairdryers mentioned in this list.

7. INFINITIPRO BY CONAIR

This is the last hairdryer on the list from Karrong, this one works very well for people with short dreadlocks. It’s very easy to use while also keeping it powerful. What I like about this dryer is that it’s very professionally made, the power you get from this is just outstanding.

It also has multiple heat and speed settings, which are normal, but this one actually works very well. I have used some other dryers in the past where the heat settings didn’t even work.

That’s not the case with this one, this one is one of the better dryers for dreadlocks in the market right now. So, if you’re considering buying this, I highly recommend it.

The best way is to air dry your hair to about 80% dry and finish the rest with a blowdryer, this way you won’t damage the hair by using too much heat. What you could do is use a heat protectant, but from my experience, it’s best to let it air dry.

I have used many heat protectants in the past, but air drying is free, and it gave my hair better results in the long term.

What Is The Best Hair Type For Dreadlocks?

Form what I have noticed is that people with thick hair have the best hair type for dreadlocks. However, many different factors play into this. Like genetics, hair care, and much more, but generally speaking, it’s people with thick and healthy hair.

What I normally do is to let my hair air-dry up to 80% and finish it off with a good hair dryer for about 5 to 10 minutes at medium heat. You don’t want to damage the dreads since that can be very bad later on in life.

Just makes sure to use a good heat protectant if you’re going to blowdry it for longer than 10 minutes and on high heat.

I have used many different brands throughout the years, and after all those shampoos, I have made the best list. These shampoos work for all hair types which is really great, just make sure to find the shampoo that works the best for you. When I started looking for a sulfate-free shampoo in the past, it was pretty hard to find one that actually worked for my keratin-treated hair. I really wish someone had made this list years ago for me, so I didn't have to test all these shampoos. Let's get to the list and find the best shampoo for your keratin-treated hair. Why You Should use A Sulfate-Free Shampoo For Keratin Treated Hair When you're going for a Keratin treatment, I always advise you to use a sulfate-free shampoo for the best and longest results from your treatment. I have had many treatments like that in the past, and the best way to keep your hair healthy is to use a sulfate-free shampoo. What you have to keep in mind is to find a shampoo that suits your hair type. If you have very dry hair, look for a shampoo that works for dry hair and not oily. It's one of the better brands out there for keratin and color-treated hair. When you start using this shampoo, it's required to not wash your hair 3 days after using this. It was pretty frustrating to not wash my hair every other day, but over time, you'll get used to it. It's better than most of the other sulfate-free shampoos for keratin treatments out there. This has always been in my top 5 and will continue to be there. The only downside when using this shampoo is that there's no lather, which can be a little annoying. What I like about this shampoo is that it's not overpowering, and it leaves the hair very clean. You only need a tiny amount of this for it to work. Even if you have very long hair, you don't need much, and that's the best thing about this. The shampoo will last you between 4 to 6 months when used 3x a week. That's a very long time, and it will save you money in the long run. If you're thinking about buying this, just give it a try, and you'll see how good it actually is. One of my friends just recently started using this, and she loves it. Her hair improved significantly while also keeping it healthy, and that's the most important key when looking for a good shampoo. 5. Another plus is that the shampoo has mild surfactants that won't strip away the keratin treatment. Even if you get a Brazilian blowout, this sulfate-free shampoo works great. A lot of my friends use this shampoo because it actually does the job and won't damage the hair at all. If you haven't tried this yet, I highly recommend you trying this out. What I like about this shampoo is that it's very moisturizing and gives your hair a lot of volume. It's one of the better shampoos in the market right now when you're looking for a keratin-treated and sulfate-free shampoo. This shampoo makes your hair very smooth and soft, that's one of the main reasons why this shampoo is on this list. The shampoo has argan oil, shea butter, and biotin inside, which are the best ingredients you can possibly get for keratin-treated hair. These products go very well together so, you can expect some great results when trying this out. You only need a small amount of this for it to work. The shampoo is safe to use for color-treated hair and even daily use. However, I do not recommend washing your hair daily since it can strip out the natural oils from your hair.
